Moving in... !!!
Believe it or not, we're in the process of moving into the new house that we've waited so long for. We don't have all of our furniture here yet and it will take some time to organize what we do have here, but we're working on it... ;-)
We've been really busy over the last week, so I haven't had much time to write about what's happening. We had about 10 or 12 days to load the storage container ("PODS" Portable On-Demand Storage) when we moved out of our previous house and we had help to finish it. For unloading, we had two days to avoid another month's rental charge, so there's a lot of stuff stacked in the garage waiting to be put in its proper place.
Things haven't all gone as planned, but we're working through the little problems and will surely have a good laugh after everything is sorted out. We bought a new cordless phone set (3 handsets) and ended up returning it to Costco because one of the handsets had a charging problem. We bought another set just like the first and it seems OK but we can't fully test it because we don't have home phone service yet. That was supposed to happen Tuesday; Verizon ran into some plugged conduits that they say is the builder's responsibility, so we're waiting... We bought a new refrigerator, washer, and dryer from Lowe's and discovered that the washer didn't spin. Lowe's brought us another one that does work. We finally have DirecTV satellite service again, including a new high-definition TiVo, but I can't record anything with it yet because the machine insists on making a phone call first...
We're still waiting for the blinds that we ordered. The supplier has received all but one, so we should have them soon.
On a positive note, some things actually went well. The pool table we bought was set up by professionals and looks like it really belongs in that big bonus room... For once, that's the way we planned it :-)
