New House Progress
No pictures this time; it's too dark even with the street lights. Lots of progress though... it looks like all of the supporting structure for the roof is in place. I wouldn't be surprised if the roof is done by the end of the week.

New House Progress
The stairs are in, so today's pictures include the second floor. The framing is about done, so it's possible to tell where all of the rooms are.

Computer Problems
One of my hard drives failed during the night. Among other things, our web site was located on that drive. I was able to piece most of it back together but a few of the latest changes had not been backed up, so it will take a little longer...

Nothing Lasts Forever, I Guess...
In case you're wondering why email to my Tektronix address has problems, my sleep apnea got me fired. Good job Tektronix! Do you fire people in wheelchairs too, or just those with less obvious handicaps?

New House Progress
We spent about two hours choosing light fixtures today. That house is going to have a lot of lights!
The support framework for the first floor is in place. Pictures are in the photo gallery.

Our Next House is Under Construction!
This is the first new entry in a long time; I've been ignoring the web site for far too long.
Construction has begun on our new house at 3804 N.W. 1st Court in Hillsboro! The foundation was poured this week. As before, I'll put construction pictures in the photo gallery. The pictures will be digital this time, so there won't be any waiting for film development.
Tanya decided a while ago that we need a bigger house, and I realized that she was right. That may seem strange since Kostya is nearly finished with college and Ilya is in his second year at USC, but at some point in the future it's reasonable to expect them to have families of their own. It would then be painfully obvious whenever they come to visit that our present house is too small. With this move our living space will nearly double, from 1760 to 3395 square feet. That will solve a lot of problems!
