Kostya goes to college
Kostya attends the University of Washington in Seattle.
Thanks to Debbie and Brian for providing a place to stay and making sure he got moved into the dorm OK, since he couldn't move in while we were there on the weekend!
While we were at Debbie's house we were able to have a nice visit with our cousin Karen and her kids.
September 23, 2001. On the trip home from taking Kostya to college, when we left the freeway to enter Beaverton, a young lady attempted to change lanes on the off-ramp and managed instead to bounce her brand new 2001 Honda Civic off the right side of our 1997 Ford Taurus. I keep telling Tanya that the Taurus is a small car (especially when compared to the 1973 Lincoln Continental that I used to have, which weighed more than three tons!), but it's a lot bigger than a Civic. Nobody was hurt, and the damage to both cars appeared to be only cosmetic. However, the repair estimate for our car was $1600. I got the car back from the repair shop on October 10; the actual repair bill was $2400, plus about $250 (my guess) for the rental car. I was really glad that I wasn't responsible for paying the bill...
