Our House is Sold!
The sale closed today, about six or seven weeks after we received the offer. Our last day here will be February 15.

New House Progress
The delay in installing the sheet rock is because of moisture in the house. A lot of water got in during the last rainstorm before the roof was sealed; apparently the moisture stayed longer than we realized. The furnace has been running since Tuesday, so it shouldn't be too much longer before they can start the sheet rock.
In the meantime, all of the concrete work has been done. The house now has a driveway, front porch, and back patio.

New House Progress
The sheet rock should have been done by now. Stacks of it were distributed all over the house at least a week ago, but it hasn't been touched since then. We're trying to find out what the holdup is. In the meantime, material has been added to the posts in the living room and the laundry room drain pipe has been installed. We actually saw a house with a heating vent in the kitchen cabinet base, so maybe the kitchen vent wasn't a mistake after all. As of yesterday they were building forms and preparing gravel prior to pouring concrete for the front porch and driveway. It looked like they were also getting ready to add the sidewalk, at least in that area. By the way, the house next door already has landscaping. It was started just a few weeks ahead of ours.
The builder would have to perform a miracle to finish the house by February 15, which will be our last day in our present house. Under the circumstances, any delays are frustrating...

New House Progress
It seemed like there wasn't much progress for a while, but it's likely that it was necessary to wait for county building inspectors to approve the work before continuing. A couple of leaks turned up during the pressure test of the plumbing, but they were fixed. The "low voltage" wiring is done; that includes cable, satellite, network, and phone. The garage floor is done, and so is the insulation in the walls. The gas meter has been installed, which means it won't take much to get the furnace running. It's probably time to install the water heater, now that it will have concrete to sit on. Sheet rock installation can begin now also. There was something that seemed odd; the big window in the bonus room has been removed. We're not sure if there was some damage, a leak, or if it was removed to make it easier to get a bunch of sheet rock to the second floor.
